Dolce and Gabbana - 3 L'impératrice Perfume (Review)

I received this perfume as a gift a while back so I did not purchase it with my money. However, I have very strong feelings towards it and I'll be sharing them in this post, incase anyone is contemplating buying a bottle.

If you've read any of my previous perfume reviews, you will know that I tend to stay away from fruity scents. It's one of the first things that I mention to anyone helping me out at perfume shop. They linger in the worst way in my opinion and just give me a headache. The only type of fruity scent that I can bear in the least are the citrusy ones, especially when they are base notes.

Having said that, my worst fruit in the world is watermelon. I just think that it's one of those fruits that don't make sense (Please I'm already aware that everybody in the world, including my entire family members like the fruit so I know that the problem is with me and my tastebuds), It's like what? 90% water? If I'm thirsty, I will go drink water, there is nothing to savor where it is concerned, hehehe. Therefore I also do not like anything watermelon flavored too.

This perfume helped me discover something new. I remember using the Dolce and Gabana - 3 L'impératrice Perfume for the first time and going hmm, "I'm not sure I like this but lets see how it wears". Well I didn't like it by the end of that day and here is why; on spraying it, it immediately screamed fruity to me but then I just couldn't for the life of me,  make out what type of fruits. I find it really easy to identify berries and citrus notes, even when they are base notes however, I couldn't identify anything with this perfume. I say this because there was this predominant note that kept getting sharper the longer I had it on and it just drove me nuts. It took serious google searching after wearing it a second time to discover that it had fresh watermelon accord in it. The google search was like an aha moment for me because it all made sense then. I realized then and there that in addition to everything else, I also did not like the smell of watermelon as it was without a doubt the note in this perfume that I could not stand.

However, if you are someone that is really into fruity scents, the Dolce and Gabana - 3 L'impératrice Perfume might appeal to you. It isn't you regular fruity, but it's fruity all the same and it lasts!!!

  1. I never thought water melon scent could be incorporated into a perfume because I believe it doesn't have a distinctively nice scent, neither can it turn heads or leave a lasting good impression. You know some perfumes just make you think about the person wearing it lol! This is sha one perfume I know I'm not interested in. Thanks for the post! XoXo

  2. I LOVE watermelon!!! It's so refreshing! But I'm not 100% sure I want to smell like one.
