I've always wanted to own a lipstick from YSL, they have some of the prettiest packaging that I've come across. They are always mostly in gold with intricate designs, the whole thing just screams luxury. Their products don't come cheap so I love the fact that they always look like something you spent serious money on.
I walked to a YSL stand looking to buy one of their Rouge Volupté lipsticks. People keep raving about them so I decided that it was time I looked at them closely, lol. The thing is, when I got there, the sales rep and lipsticks in the Rouge volupté line were not impressing me. I don't like to bother people and the sales rep kept acting like I was bothering her so the lipsticks kukuma (also) started to look annoying.
Just as I was about to leave them there and go, I saw some lipsticks that were displayed just at the edge of the table where the lipsticks that I had come to look at were displayed. After two quick questions, I was informed that they were part of the only matte lipstick collection that YSL had. I swatched them quickly and left with this one.
The YSL Rouge pur couture lipstick in Prune virgin is a gorgeous maroon red color. It has a finish that is very similar to Mac's amplified finish and it applies like a dream. It has a very rich and thick consistency and it layers nicely. It is also moisturizing, it does not settle into lip cracks like some lipsticks tend to. It has a flowery perfumey scent to it and I don't mind that but I know that some of you don't like it when things like this have a distinct smell.
