They deliver - Asos

I've gotten a lot of emails concerning how I place my Asos orders, so I will be answering most of the questions I've recieved in this post.
If you are not familiar with Asos, kindly click on THIS  link.

Asos currently delivers to Nigeria and they offer two types of delivery. There is the standard delivery which is free and takes up to 9 working days and there is the express delivery which costs £20 and takes up to 4 working days.

I've used Asos alot so I'm going to tell you guys some of the things that I've learned from experience.

HOW TO ORDER:
To order from Asos you must have an internationlly accepted MASTER or VISA Card. You cannot place an order on Asos using a VERVE card.
To place an order, you need to enter the name on the card, the card number, the card expiry date and the card cvv code which is the last three numbers found on the back of card.

SHIPPING:
ANY ORDER WORTH LESS THAN 100 POUNDS WILL LIKELY END UP MISSING OR TAKE MORE THAN 9 WORKING DAYS TO GET TO YOU, so be very careful. This happened to me 3 times before I realised what the problem was. The main reason for this is that, Asos ships out orders that cost  less than 100 pounds through Royal mail which is the UK's local postal service and this automaticlly means that Nipost has the responsibility of delivering your order to you (which to me is a very risky something) smh.

With orders that cost less than 100 pounds, you don't get a tracking number and this makes it difficult for both you and Asos to track what is going on and  at the end of the day, Nobody can actually tell what happened to you order
The last time I had this problem, I sent an email to Asos telling them that my Order had not gotten to me  yet and they replied saying that I should give it extra 9 working days because it was shipped through my local postal service (NIPOST) and  in that same mail, they suggested that I check my local post office to make sure that the order was not there.

I decided to check the post office so I went to the one in Lekki phase 1, Lagos because I lived in Lekki at the time but there was nothing there. They  referred me to the post office in Adeola odeku, Victoria Island so I went there to ask of it. I gave them my order number and name and after looking around tiredly, the guy assigned to me came back and told me that he didnt see anything. I called him aside and told him to please help me keep an eye out for it. I gave him my phone number and house address and lo and behold I got a text from him the next day telling me that my parcel had miraculously appeared.
I went to the office that day to  pick it up and asked him why it was never sent out for delivery and he told me that they could'nt deliver it because there was no phone number on the parcel and that their bike men had also been banned from coming to the area where I live. The whole story made no absolute sense but I thanked him profusely and ran away with my package. I learnt that day to buy from Asos when I only had a 100 pounds or more to spare.

ORDERS SHIPPED FOR EXPRESS DELIVERY AND ORDERS THAT COST £100 AND ABOVE:
You are only asked to pay for customs if the order was shipped through SKY NET and with all orders shipped through this company, you automatically  get a tracking number.

SKY NET is a courier service that delivers all Asos orders worth 100 pounds or more. They are also the ones that deliver all Asos orders shipped out for express delivery.

They are always prompt and never exceed the estimated delivery date (I've never had a problem with them). They are also the only ones you should pay any custom charge whatsoever. They usually send you a text stating the amount of money that a you are required to pay before your parcel arrives  and they also give you a receipt as proof of payment.

You should never ever pay a Nipost  delivery man one Kobo after he has delivered anything to you. I say this because they've duped somebody I know in past without giving him a receipt.

CUSTOM CHARGE:
With some orders, you are required to pay a custom charge depending I think on the weight of your order. So the more your order weighs the more you will likely pay. The highest I've payed for customs is about N1,800 and the order was about the size of the carton in the first picture with some extra items in a plastic asks bag.

I know someone who orderd alot of shoes, the whole thing came in 5 different cartons and she was asked to pay N10,000 for customs (horrible right?). I just try as much as possible not put items that might weigh too much in one order.

*NB
I also realised after several attempts that items from Mango are not available for delivery in Nigeria. I honestly do not know why.

I hope this post was helpful, Please kindly share your Asos experience in the comments section below.

UPDATE:
Asos recently changed the company that handles their deliveries here in Nigeria so custom charges are now ridiculous in my opinion. I personally now make sure that my orders are always less than 50pounds. The post office here in Enugu is very efficient so my orders never get missing if they are shipped out for standard delivery which doesn't come with tracking. This new company is currently in charge of delivering all Asos orders that cost more than 50 pounds.
I had serious problems with them during the christmas period because they charged me a ridiculous amount for customs and during our fracas, I learnt that this new company charges you 25% of the amount you paid for order as customs so please be very careful.

                                                   XOXO,

  3. Yayy! Finally, there's a post about asos shopping! I started using asos earlier this year, and it was a struggle trying to read reviews about people who had actually gotten orders in Nigeria. I only found one or two posts!
I decided to put my faith in them, I ordered, chilled till I was supposed to get it, it didn't arrive, did all the post office running around, finally they sent me a replacement(via skynet). I got my next order tho, 3 pairs of shoes(slightly above 40 pounds),and skynet delivered. So, i guess it depends on the weight and value of your order. Idk. :D

  8. I always get my Asos orders delivered on time, and I always tell people that they actually do deliver and on time too. However, my last order is a few days late, it's well over £100 and i cant track it. I'm disappointed, and don't even know who or where to direct my complaint. Any ideas pls?

  9. I've used asos for a long while now.

The explaination i got from skynet in respect to the custom charges is that for deliveries over £100, they charge a certain percentage of the total cost. (Cant remember the exact percentage). They will not deliver mango items or primark.

Good thing about asos is that for packages not received, as long as you complain about it, they either give you a refund or re send ur other at no extra cost.

@Adesewa, just do them a mail. U will get a replacement or a refund.

P.s RiverIsland also delivers to nigeria.

  12. I've used Asos like 6 times this year and purchased stuff way under £100 and had them delivered on time (btw 3 to 8 days after ordering) via royal mail and because of work constraints, I usually send someone to pick my parcel from the post office with a letter authorizing them to do so (with photocopies of both our IDs) and N500 for 'handling charges'
Their customer service is pretty amazing too. I contact them via mail or on twitter via @ASOS_HeretoHelp and they respond swiftly.

  13. I have been buying from Asos for a very long time and i don't order for goods worth 100pounds at a time, that means it comes from Royal mail and Nipost always deliver to my house. Never been disappointed. You only missed your goods cos the Nipost service in your area is bad. If your transaction was declined, it means gtbank service was bad on that day or your account balance wasn't sufficient.

  17. I have been using asos for over a year now. my first order was below 50gbp and it was shipped with Royal Mail, went missin in NIPOST. all my subsequent order was above 100gbp and i always receive via skynet agents.

my only problem is the customs issue. Skynet was using XPL as their agent to deliver package in Nigeria before they changed to CFL....... I discovered that CFL has always asked me to pay almost double of what XPL would charge.
    Has anyone noticed this?

    1. You're absolutely right. I have been using ASOS for more than a year now and their customs charges are getting crazier and crazier.

These days, I leave my orders below 100p and place multiple orders under 100p so that it comes through the post office. None of my orders have gotten lost so far and I always refrain from using Skynet unless it urgent

  18. I live in Ajah and placed my order on the 5th of December. It was less that a 100 GBP and they said the order will arrive on the 2nd of January. I sent an email to the customer service agent and I was told to give it 9 working days before lodging another complaint.
I have a strong feeling my goods will never arrive.
However, I will check with the local post office and see if anything will come out of it.
It is my first time shopping with ASOS and I must confess, it hasn't been the best of experience having to wait for my order to arrive!

  19. I ordered for stuff from asos separately on three different days and even though they amounted to more than 100 pounds, they were shipped through royal mail. Unfortunately I hadn't heard about the spending atleast 100 pounds thing. Luckily for me I had heard about checking the post office if the stuff hadn't arrived after the due date which I did. Lo and behold my orders were sitting at the post office. Basically most of the deliveries arrive at the post office and are abandoned. P.s. I live in Abuja. So if u haven't received ur orders after their due dates, check the post office closest to ur delivery address.

  27. Hi Dimma! I landed on your blog because I was searching for bloggers who had negative experience with ASOS, particularly those with orders that never arrived. Thank you for the information particularly on orders less than 100 UK POUND. Perhaps that explains why my order has not yet arrived. I sent them message through their Twitter account. Only to be told that I should wait for another 2 weeks.. sigh... I really hope my order would arrive soon. I don't want to go through the hassles of processing a refund.

  28. Hi, anyone that has issues with delivery to Nigeria should check the post office in their locality. Most of these parcels do make it to these post offices, but due to the fact that they don't deliver to your house and there is no tracking number to track it, they just leave the parcel lying there. Check the post office, and see if you can talk to someone there, you will find out that most of these parcels are there, waiting to be picked up. I have received more than 30 parcels from different online sellers including Asos, River island etc, and I don't have a single bad experience. As someone who shop online a lot, I just made friends with a lady at my local post office, and she calls me every time a parcel arrives, and all I have to do is "dash her something".....lol. Hope this would help someone.

  31. Just thought I'd offer a correction 'customs duty' is based on the value of the goods not weight.
I would like to know from those who picked up their packages at the local post office if there were any additional payments i.e. customs duty. I only hear about customs duty from those whose packages were delivered by Skynet or XPL.

Subsequent orders all less than 100pounds were shipped by royal mail i guess because it was delivered to my office by nipost here in abuja. the nipost mail man suggested that its best to have your phone number listed on the package so you can be easily contacted if an issue arises. 46. So it is getting super ridiculous! I ordered from Asos over a month ago. My package cost 214 pounds. Till date Skynet has been unable to clear my goods from customs, claiming that customs have 'increased' their rates to 35% and they have been trying to negotiate lower rates. If I ever order from asos again, I will order in batches of under 100 pounds so that my goods come through NIPOST. NIPOST has never dissapointed. Goods come under seven days and I pay only 500 to 1000 naira in fees. Skynet is shit.

    1. I think you should use New look now. They post to Nigeria and you don't pay anything. My order was above 75 pounds so it qualified for free delivery, DHL delivered it and no custom duties paid at all. This is my new alternative as Asos charge from Skynet is N2,200 for what exactly? A dress, a waist coat and hand bag- not worth it (and it is below 100 pounds, even 50 pounds).

  49. SKYNET WORLDWIDE EXPRESS Nigeria is quite frankly the WORST delivery service I have ever used and believe me I have used quite a few. HORRIBLE SERVICE
I paid all the necessary CLEARING FEES ON SHIPMENT since the 3rd December, 2015 (Thursday) with the promise that after payment had been met I would receive my package within 3 working days in Kano(where I reside) which would have been yesterday 8th December, 2015. After hearing ABSOLUTE SILENCE from the Skynet Team, I decided to call and find out what/where my package was. The young man ever soo rudely replied that it was just shipped today, 9th December, 2015 and that I would receive the package on the 12th December, 2015 (Saturday).
    There was no apology, nothing!!!!!!
Just a lackadaisical disregard for there customers.
Needless to say that I will not be using this service again thank you very much....... I have no time for companies that don't take their job seriously!!!!!!!! Horrible service.
